Support for Calais

People across the UK gan together to support the unfortunate souls in Calais.

The UK government has been under fire in the recent weeks throughout the crisis that some are referring to as the biggest Europe has seen since World War Two.

David Cameron, the UK's current Prime Minister has held strong against allowing refugees into the country, although much of the UK population is in uproar about this decision, with petitions filling up social media to allow refugees into the country.

Following the tragic event where a young child washed up on the coast David Cameron announced that the government would reconsider they're stand. However any change is yet to be seen.

The rest of the EU is also under fire from Germany's Merkel. So far Germany has been the only country to fully open it's doors to refugees, and demands the EU as a whole follow suit, taking their fair share of the crisis.

Today hundreds of Brits are clearing out their cupboards for shipments going out from across the UK coast, carrying life saving supplies to Calais.

In the Highlands region a ship will be sailing out from Kyle of Lochalsh, taking with it the kindly donated supplies from locals through the area.

These charitable deeds stand in harsh comparison to our Governments lack of initiative and against the groups who have marched the streets of majors city's throughout the UK demanding justice for these poor people.

Many are demanding action, and choosing to take action to help those in government and parliaments across the UK stand and talk about the situation.

In this tragic time we can take comfort that the people of Britain are giving, kind and strong.

Why We Need To Make Politics A Mandatory High School Topic

Basic politics is easy to grasp, but trying to teach yourself politics, in an unbiased manner, is very difficult. In my high school Social Education was made a mandatory subject, taught once a week, for the entity of the high school education, And while repeatedly learning the same things about sex and drugs is SO important there is no education on basic politics to speak of. Also I was never taught how to write a cheque, pay bills, or set up insurance, but those are separate issues. The recent run of elections, and referendums, and the poor youth turnouts are a huge sign that the populace is not receiving any understanding of basic politics. However, making it a mandatory topic within high school education, such as embedding it into already existent classes like social education, could prepare the future generations for making strong, well educated decisions when it comes the the governing of our country. With most parents not even having the most basic grasp of unbiased pol...

BBC Three's 'I Survived a Zombie Apocalypse' just the new Big Brother?

Basing any prior knowledge on the flashy, awe grabbing advert for the new reality T.V. show on BBC Three, I survived a Zombie Apocalypse, one had hoped that the show would be just as existing as the advert was. Hope thrived on the idea that putting regular people into such a scenario would bring out the best and worst qualities in an amusing, secretly recorded non-scripted way. Seeing the show finally pop up on BBC IPlayer gave cause to drop everything else just to watch it. The opening credits infused the idea, based on the long growing suspicion that radio waves are bad for our brains in some as of yet unknown way, the possibility that heightening these waves to far could cause serious neurological damage, and in this case cause the feared 'Zombies' It was all very flashy, clever and almost believable, well that is until the people started pulling in. There clips bringing you back to the sad reality that is British society, the fact that these people would be instructed...
